Classroom Information
Happy Friday,
We have finished ILEARN! Wahoo!!! The kids worked so hard. We will be back to our normal routine next week. We will have our spelling test, comprehension and vocab quiz like normal. They will also have a small amount of homework each night.
May Crowning is Wednesday. Students should dress in their Sunday best. If they would like to change clothes after Mass, they can bring their uniform. All students should have tennis shoes, because it is our PE day.
Friday, May 10th is our field trip to Squire Boone. The students are bringing home permission slips today. Parents are welcome to join us. I have several parents that have reached out about attending. All parents are responsible for their own transportation. The bus will leave OLPH at 9:00. We typically leave Squire Boone about 1:00 to return to school. Chaperones will need to pay $15.00 when they get there. Students should wear spirit wear (the cave can be chilly, so I encourage the kids to bring a sweatshirt or light jacket).
Please pack a sack lunch-no peanuts and a drink for the trip.
The drive is about 45 min., so we let kids bring a hand-held electronic device for the trip. Please make sure devices are not on the internet and appropriate for school. If your child brings one it will be left on the bus during the day while we are on our field trip.
Next Week:
Reading- Story of the Week- Foot Race Across America; Comprehension Skill: Main Idea and Supporting Details; Phonics Skill- -tion, -sion, -ure;
Math- Our last chapter was about data and graphing. This past week we surveyed the Our Lady students on their favorite sports. We will focus this coming week on displaying our information in the form of a bar graph, picture graph and line plot.
Religion: The students have been learning about, The Four Marks of the Church.
Science: This coming week we will be discussing cave formations in preparation for our field trip Friday.
Social Studies: Today was selling day! The kids did a fantastic job selling their products. They all learned a lot and had fun in the process.

Parents,
What a surprise! I had a wonderful surprise today of an early birthday celebration. It made my day! Thank you so much for the flowers, cookies, card and gift cards. I am so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful parents and students. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
We are prepped and ready for ILEARN! We have reviewed all week and discussed testing strategies. Today we talked about just doing our very best. There is no need to stress about a test or worry. Just do your best and show what you know!
ILEARN begins on Monday at 8:00! We will test on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning, next week. Please be sure your student in on time for school. A good night rest and a healthy breakfast are a great way to start the week. Please be sure they bring a water bottle and snack each day.
Since they will be testing all morning, we will be taking it easy in the afternoons. This means no homework this week! Wahoo!
Monday is Earth Day! The Kindness Club will be planting a tree on campus to spread kindness this month. Mr. McGuire announced that all students may wear green clothing on Monday. Therefore, the 3rd Graders can wear their Kindness Club shirts on Friday.
Please send a beach towel to school for your child to use on Monday. We plan to use them to do some work outside on Monday and throughout the rest of the school year. We will store them in their bin here in the classroom.
Next Week:

It’s December!! It was a fun week with Providence Singers/Popcorn players visiting. We also had Officer Powell visit with his K9 dog, Swagg, because we read a story about another officer and his dog. The Penguin Patch is a store that we set up in the gym and students can bring in money (if you want) and they can shop for Christmas presents for family members. There will be an envelope attached to the information that you can return on Monday or Tuesday if you want your child to shop.
We will be having another class auction in a couple weeks. If you see anything while you are out that third graders would like, we would appreciate your donation. Thank you in advance.

The first task is for everyone to get signed up. So please log on to mybooster.com to register. If we can get everyone signed up in our class, we can earn some extra recess!
We will have our first, class auction on October 5th. We ask that you send in items for the auction if your family is able to. You can send anything fun that you think a third grader might like. We typically get fidgets, stuffed animals, craft kits, outdoor toys, sports cards, but you don’t have to stick to those ideas. Please have all items turned in by October 3rd, so I can run out and get any additional items.

Our Fun Run Week will begin soon. The Fun Run is on October 5th. This is always such a great day for the kids. I will be sending you a lot of information about it over the next week and a half (be prepared…Ha!) There are different tasks that students can do most nights, so our class earns fun prizes.

Making sure we are quiet, listening, and focused when instruction is occurring, so we can understand the concepts being taught. This is a big year for learning independence, and trying something even when it is a challenging. I work a lot at the beginning of the year with the students on understanding that we may not get everything the first time around, and that is okay. We just try again and learn from mistakes! Please continue to encourage your child to ask questions and keep challenging themselves.
Next Week, we will be shopping at Book Fair on Wednesday. Students will be coming home with a flyer and a zip lock bag in their Friday Folders. If you would like to allow your child to purchase books at Book Fair please be sure to place money in the zip lock bag and indicate what they are allowed to purchase. (books, erasers, pens, posters etc.)
Next Friday, is Special Person's Mass and Breakfast from 8:00-10:00. Please let your Special Persons know that we will meet them over at church!

Next Week:
- I just wanted to remind everyone to follow the approved snack list, because we have some allergies in our room and we want to keep everyone safe!
- Thank you to the families that have bought stuff from our classroom wish list!! We have some items rolling in already and we are so thankful!
- Just a heads up, I will be out on Tuesday, Terri White will be here subbing for me. The kids are in good hands. If you need anything on Tuesday, please contact the school office.
- Don't forget students may complete corrections on Tests/Quizzes(except Spelling). Those are due by the following Wednesday.
- In the Friday Folder that is coming home today you will notice the Pioneer Pass is attached to the inside pocket. This pass can get your student into any sporting event at Providence for free! All you have to do is fill it out and show the person that is working the gate at the game.
- You will also see the Special Person’s Day paper in your Friday Folder today. Please fill that out and return as soon as possible.
- Just a reminder that any adult that wants to go on field trips or come to our class for any classroom parties must be cleared through Safe Parish. If you aren’t sure if you are done with this training please reach out to the office.
- Monday is our first Crusader Day!!
- School will start an hour later than normal at 8:45. That hour will be utilized for our teachers to collaborate and enrich the curriculum they are teaching as well as for Professional Development. I encourage you to take advantage of this extra hour and either spend that time with your child making a memory or simply letting them enjoy a little extra sleep. If you must drop off your child early, that is completely fine. You still can do so like normal between 7:15 AM and 7:45. We will then lock the doors and reopen them at 8:15 for students to enter the building like normal. Like anything new, please be patient with us as we navigate unforeseen issues that may pop up. We will have these once a month, excluding the months in which we have Fall and Spring Break. The dates are listed in the official school calendar that can be found online.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!
